    Cockroaches.
    Expensive.
They often don’t have funds to run team spirit events properly.

Trying to back charger me because they put my details in wrong. Yes I noticed at first the money wasn’t being debited but promptly forgot due to brain injury/being student. $4000 is not a amount you dump on a student.

I lived here for two years and can say with certainty that it'll be the worst place I'll have ever lived.

Poor management, huge lack in support from RAs and staff alike, no sense of community and extortionate prices for such a small space.

Low level of care for the well-being and safety of residents, which is displayed by the lack of fire drills and the frequent malfunction of fire alarms. I also experienced this lack of care when a fellow residents threatened myself and a few friends with a knife, and managements only concern was if we had told anyone outside of their company about it.

Rooms are constantly in need of repair and maintenance. (which is okay because one of the very few good things about UC lodge is the team doing maintenance). This is worrying considering how new the building is.

Very few unilodge events are run throughout the year, meaning there is little to no community life. Plus the events that are run pretty much rely on you wanting to drink.

If I could give zero stars I would be.

I would not recommend living on UC campus to anyone. They claim to have under market house prices but expect you to pay ridiculous prices for depressing shoebox rooms, things are constantly breaking and can be left broken for months at a time unless you harass the front staff to fix them. They ask for money anything and everything. You accidentally lock yourself out…you need to pay for a new card and a lock out fee. Money in disguise of a “spirit” fee $100 and towards “free” meals that not everybody can have.

During covid in 2020 they offered to help students with food but you were required to pay $99+ on cheap inedible food. No rent assistance for those that needed it and continue to charge high amounts, the rooms aren’t even worth the money as there isn’t any air conditioning and so you’re barely in the rooms as you’re dying of heat exhaustion and need to seek air con somewhere else. As people who are students you’d think they would understand that not all of us are working and for those who are, they aren’t working enough hours to pay rent and save especially those living in a one bedroom. It’s
appalling that UC promotes this money making scheme to new students. I was there for half a year before I decided to move out and find a place off campus. It’s much cheaper, less depressing and you don’t have to deal with rude admin.

I wasn’t going to post anything but my friends are going through similar if not worse as they don’t have parents that can financially support them and Centrelink isn’t a main source of income. Imagine being in debt at 19-20 because UC lodge are too greedy for their own good.

This is the most frustrating, unreasonable, unprofessional, and extremely annoying place that I have to deal with. I highly recommend anyone looking for accommodation at UC to look for other places. The information provided by the officers are contradicted with each others and confusing at the same time. Staffs are not helpful and almost like they try to bully you because you’re an international student. As an University accomodation faculty, should you be looking after the students’ benefits and try to resolve the matters on hand, and not pushing them away simply saying “sorry we can’t do that”? We pay hard-earn money to you with expectation that you, at least, provide some standard services and not for us making complaints on public review like this. This is uncalled for UC lodge!

I had multiple things stolen while i lived there. They did nothing to help, despite the gave that they were the ones that compromised security e.g. cutting a hole in the wall of the bike shed for renovations, and putting nothing up to stop people walking in, or walking out with thousands of dollars of mountain bikes and e bikes. Then offering no compensation or assistance.
They do nothing about living conditions and will not help you if you have bad housemates (that they assign), or if things break, or malfunction. They only time time i got help was of i threatened to fix it myself. This is because they have only one maintenance staff member (who is a lovely man by the way), because they are so cheap.
I wouldn't live there again if you paid me, let alone the exorbitant price they ask for.
